15th Annual YWCA Benefit Luncheon Featuring Keynote Speaker:

Why does Victor speak out about the most underreported crime in America?
Because he lived it.
Victor witnessed his mother endure torture - and he himself was a victim - at the hands of his father.
An accomplished actor, author and athlete, Victor became an activist in an effort to bring awareness to a national epidemic: the “hidden” crime of domestic violence. Victor overcame his traumatic past to become an NFL football player, then an actor who has found success in film and television. He has acted in such movies as Havana with Robert Redford, The Distinguished Gentleman with Eddie Murphy, The Mask of Zorro, Amistad, Blood In/Blood Out, The Air I Breathe, The Lost City and countless others. He has guest starred on numerous television shows including CSI Miami, Star Trek, JAG, Miami Vice and Life.
Victor has told his remarkable story of survival and hope in his New York Times bestselling memoir, A Private Family Matter.
Today, having broken the cycle of violence, Rivers is a devoted husband and father. Victor believes that domestic violence is a public family matter and is everyone’s issue.
