Community Education Program

The Community Education Program is designed to educate all ages and all sectors of the community. It works with various types of agencies, service and religious groups, educational groups, including students from K – graduate school, professional groups, and cultural groups to educate them on statistics, dynamics, impact, and trends in the field of domestic violence and services available to families.   It serves this diverse number of agencies and individuals through talks, interviews, workshops, panels, published materiel, media releases, and health fair exhibits.  It also solicits and develops training for volunteers for the women’s shelter, court advocacy, and immigrant programs and provides educational sessions of empowerment for women in the shelter.

Volunteer Program

The YWCA is truly grateful for its volunteers, who are the backbone of our programs. If you would like to make a difference in the lives of abused women or children in our shelter program, our court advocacy program, our community education outreach program, or, if you are bi-lingual and would like to volunteer for our immigrant women’s program, please give us a call to receive information and an application at 901-458-2550 and ask for Kathy Ivey.
